Welcome to Bend Experiential Therapy.
I look forward to working with you on your healing journey.

Meet Charan.
It takes courage to seek change, especially when life hasn't given you a clear playbook. My own journey of rediscovering myself later in life has taught me that profound change is entirely possible.
I bring my life of experience to the counseling room, including being born in South Africa during apartheid and becoming a teenage father who deprioritized my own needs, to offer you an inclusive, deeply accepting space. Whether I’m bringing the investigative curiosity from my past career in forensics into our sessions or just bringing my authentic self who loves playing bass in an indie rock band and obsessing over pickleball, I am dedicated to making therapy feel relatable and safe. Together, we will gently explore the forces that have shaped you, finding a path forward that brings more connection, joy, and freedom to your daily life.
My Credentials and Training:
Professional Counseling Associate
MA Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Antioch University
BS Physics, UCLA
"Minding the Heart" Experiential Therapy Training (Dr. Tori Olds)
Navigating Psychedelics for Clinicians & Wellness Practitioners
My Approach
Instead of just putting a 'patch' over your struggles by trying to manage negative thoughts, feelings, or behaviors, our goal is to meet them and heal them at their root. Sometimes, the very survival mechanisms that kept you safe in the past can work against you and hold you back in the present. Using an experiential approach, we will compassionately investigate and untangle these emotional learnings. Together, we will gently update these old patterns in small doable steps, so you can break free from invisible barriers and access your true self, your best self, and your ability to thrive.

Psychedelic Preparation and Integration.
Therapeutic psychedelics are an exciting, emerging pathway for mental health in Oregon, but finding the right support can feel difficult. Unlike indigenous cultures that have long used plant medicines, our modern society doesn't always provide a clear framework for making sense of these profound experiences. That is where our work comes in. While I do not sit with you during the medicine session, I provide a dedicated, non-judgmental space to prepare for your journey and make sense of what you discover. Together, we will safely decipher your insights and weave them into your daily life through practical, actionable steps, so you can truly thrive

Modalities
My approach to therapy is highly experiential, utilizing several cutting-edge models to help you achieve profound, lasting change. I interweave Internal Family Systems (IFS), Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP), and Coherence Therapy to help facilitate what is known as 'memory reconsolidation.' While this sounds highly technical, it is simply your brain’s natural ability to update past emotional learnings when confronted with new information. Together, we will use these emerging frameworks to heal your struggles at their root, making your ongoing wellness and therapeutic gains feel effortless.
